Welton
Welton is approximately 6 miles north of Lincoln. The centre of the village has old stone built cottages and houses. The many amenities include riding stables, a pub serving meals, church, doctors surgery, library, Coop including chemists, gift shop, newsagent, fish and chip shop, and pet shop.
At the other end of the village is a butchers, small supermarket, Chinese takeaway and Halifax Building society. There are frequent buses to Lincoln. Also a regular service to the quaint market town of Market Rasen, and services to the coast.
Round and About
Lincoln is less than 15 minutes away by car. The city dates from roman times and boasts a magnificent cathedral and Norman castle in the uphill historic Bailgate area. Nowadays, lower Lincoln has grown into a thriving, lively university city. This new area is linked to the old by 'Steep Hill' with its quaint little shops and cafes.
Just 20 miles to the east lies the county's best kept secret - the Lincolnshire Wolds. An area of gently rolling hills and tranquil, picturesque villages, an ideal place for quiet walks with the Viking Way cutting through it.
The coast can easily be reached either by car or bus from the village. There are miles of golden sands which get busy in the main resorts in the summer but there are quieter places to be found. Out of season the long empty beaches are great for a bracing walk to blow the cobwebs away. |
